Over 4,000 young people and their parents visit KFU’s grand Open Doors Day on April 12

The co-organizers were the Department of Information Policy, the Center for Development of Gifted Secondary Schoolers, and the Admission Commission.
Deputy of Kazan City Duma (municipal council), KFU alumnus Vitaly Beloborodov noted that he was pleased to see driven young people visiting the Institute of Social and Philosophical Sciences and Mass Communications, “They need to enjoy their studentship but also acquire knowledge and necessary contacts that they’ll use in the future.” Among the Institute’s guests were General Director of TSN News Agency Dmitry Averkiev, Deputy Chief Editor of Tatarstan State Radio and Television Company Diana Vasilova, and others.
A student meeting helped future students understand the realities of university life. Winners of competitions and scholarships, athletes and other talented young people showed their slightly younger peers that it’s possible to be successful in your studies and extracurricular activities at the same time.
HR Manager of 1C Rarus Anna Babikova shared, “We came here to attract young professionals who would be able to grow in our company. I am an alumna of the Department of Conflict Studies, and we were taught HR work.”
Valeriya Yefimova, a 9th grade pupil, said, “I understood that it’s not easy to enroll in KFU, but it’s indeed high-quality education.”
Another visitor, Anastasiya Vasilishina, shared, “I am currently enrolled in another university in Kazan, but I think about entering a master’s course in KFU. I am interested in mass media.”
Renata Yarullina arrived from Chistopol, a city some 130 kilometers from Kazan, “I was following the news on your website, but I couldn’t visit the open doors days of separate institutes. And here I can tour the entire university in one day, which is excellent.”
Anatoly Ivanov arrived together with his son from Cheboksary, the administrative center of the neighboring Chuvash Republic, “Our friends’ son is going to graduate from the Institute of IT and Intelligent Systems soon, and he likes their curriculum and employment prospects quite a lot. Importantly, he is already involved in real work projects and has up-to-date skills. When I was a student, we had much theory which ended up being obsolete.”
There were many other guests from other cities and provinces, in some cases travelling over a hundred or two hundred kilometers specifically to visit KFU and get personally acquainted with its offers and atmosphere.
More than 300 young people visited the Institute of Fundamental Medicine and Biology. “We want to see and get to know the smartest high schoolers, winners of contests and Olympiads, and to experience much joy from the fact that we have such young people!” commented Institute Director Andrey Kiyasov. Apart from an open talk with the Director, there were popular science lectures from educators.
One of the furthest trips was made by Kristina Azovskaya from Uralsk, Kazakhstan (over 600 km from Kazan). “An incredibly large-scale and interesting event. I came to Kazan from Kazakhstan, had time to visit traditional tourist places, walk along Bauman Street and, of course, see the main building of KFU. To move to this city and enter one of the leading universities in Russia is my main goal. The Institute of International Relations is one of the most popular institutes, I want to enter the international tourism program, because this specialty will allow me to get acquainted with the culture and traditions of many countries. It is hard to single out the most interesting things, all the interactives and master classes tell us about the specifics of learning,” she said.
April 12, the Cosmonautics Day, as per Rector Lenar Safin’s decision, is to become the set date for unified all-KFU open doors days in the future.
