Russian government quota
Invitation and visa for foreign citizens and stateless persons enrolled on a basis of the Russian Government Quota for education of foreign citizens
Citizens from the visa-required countries and stateless persons enrolling for studies on the basis of the Russian Government Quota must obtain a study visa in order to enter the Russian Federation. The visa is issued on the basis of the visa instruction (“invitation”) prepared by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation.
You can find the information on the visa status (status of the visa instruction) in your personal office on the website “Education in Russia for Foreigners”. In order to obtain a visa you should contact the Embassy (Consulate) of the Russian Federation and when contacting you should give the number of your visa invitation.
On the basis of the invitation, you will be issued a single entry study visa valid for 60-90 days, which will be extended in Kazan by a multi-entry visa for the whole period of study (but no more than one year).
Citizens from the visa-required countries and stateless persons continuing their studies on a Russian Government Quota program should apply for visa support by writing to the Education Office of the KFU Department of External Affairs at education@kpfu.ru
A scanned copy of your valid passport must be enclosed. Your passport must be valid for at least 18 months from the date of intended entry into the Russian Federation
State-funded/ conтract education
Invitation and visa for foreign citizens and stateless persons enrolled on a state-funded/contract basis:
To issue an invitation to students of the Preparatory School, we need you to do the following in your Personal Account:
- Go to the ” Application Form-Additional-Other” section;
- Tick the “Need an invitation” box;
- Choose the country you want your visa to be issued in (this country can not differ from your country of temporary/permanent residence);
- Choose the city where you want to obtain visa (the city where Russian Federation Consulate is situated should be chosen from the provided list);
- Write your name and surname in Latin (according to your foreign passport).
If you did not tick the “Need an invitation” box before enrolling at KFU, you can send your application to invitationskpfu@gmail.com
Your passport must be valid for at least 18 months from the date of intended entry into the territory of the Russian Federation. If this condition is not met, the invitation cannot be issued. You need to get a new passport.
Those who are on academic leave must return in accordance with the order. The order is issued by the relevant institution where the student is studying.
An invitation to enter the Russian Federation is prepared for at least 45 days after documents are submitted to the Migration Department.
Preparatory school
Invitation for foreign citizens and stateless persons enrolled in the Preparatory School.
To issue an invitation to students of the Preparatory School, we need you to do the following in your Personal Account:
- Go to the ” Application Form-Additional-Other” section;
- Tick the “Need an invitation” box;
- Choose the country you want your visa to be issued in (this country can not differ from your country of temporary/permanent residence);
- Choose the city where you want to obtain visa (the city where Russian Federation Consulate is situated should be chosen from the provided list);
- Write your name and surname in Latin (according to your foreign passport).

In accordance with the Federal Law “On personal data” № 152–ФЗ of 27.07.2006 the information on the invitation readiness might be obtained solely by the applying person, via an authorization letter and by e-mail from which the application was sent. Please be kindly noted that the information on the invitation status shall not be communicated by phone.
