Renewal of Russian visa

Visa extension is a procedure allowing foreign citizens (from visa countries) and stateless persons to extend their legal stay on the territory of Russia for up to 1 year.

Foreign nationals and stateless persons are issued single entry visa for a period of 90 days (ordinary study visa, ordinary work visa) to enter the Russian Federation. The purpose of entry must necessarily coincide with the purpose of stay in the territory of the Russian Federation.

You are now in the Russian Federation, your visa is expiring and you need to extend it…

To extend the visa you need to prepare a full package of documents and submit it in person to the Passport and Visa Department of Department of External Affairs KFU at:  Gvardeiskaya St., b.9, Kazan, not earlier than 90 calendar days and no later than 45 days before the visa expiry date (it is desirable to come early)

Package of documents for extension of ordinary study visa:

1. Original passport + 2 photocopies of the main page with the validity period of the passport, + 2 photocopies of valid visa (the last one), + 1 photocopy of all pages with other visas, stamps and stamps
2. Original of migration registration + 2 photocopies
3. Original migration card + 2 photocopies
4. Study agreement (for contract education) / referral from the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation (for Russian Government Quota) / certificate (for state-financed education) + 1 photocopy
5. State duty (Requisites on the site of Department of Internal Affairs of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the Republic of Tatarstan, when paying the state duty is required to use the number of foreign passport and full name as indicated in the current or last visa) *
6. 2 color photos, 3×4 size – 2 pcs

• Certificate of Course Completion or Bachelor’s/Master’s Diploma (when transferring to the next level of study), + 1 photocopy
• Order of withdrawal from another institution or certificate of transfer from another institution (when transferring to the same level of study) + 1 photocopy
•  Extract from the order of admission (transfer from one direction to another) + 1 photocopy

Package of documents for extension of an ordinary work visa:

1. Original passport + 2 photocopies of the main page with the validity of the passport, + 2 photocopies of the valid visa (the last one), + 1 photocopy of all pages with other visas, stamps, and stamps
2. Original migration card + 2 photocopies
3. Original migration record (registration) + 2 copies of both sides
4. A copy of the employment contract, civil-law contract, certified by the Department of Human Resources of KFU
5. 2 color photos, size 3×4 – 2 pcs
6. State duty (State duty requisites are available at the website of the Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Tatarstan; when paying the state duty you must use the number of your foreign passport and your full name as indicated in your current or latest visa, bank stamp is required) *

If you are accompanied by your family members, their documents for visa extension should be submitted with yours.

To do this, each accompanying member of your family is required to provide:

1. Original passport + 2 photocopies of the main page with the validity of the passport, + 2 photocopies of the valid visa (the last one), + 1 photocopy of all pages with other visas, stamps and stamps
2. Original migration card + 2 photocopies
3. Original migration record (registration) -+ 2 photocopies of both sides
4. Copy of the employment contract, civil-law contract, certified by the Department of Human Resources of KFU
5. State duty (State duty requisites are available at the website of the Department of Internal Affairs of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Tatarstan; when paying the state duty you must use the number of your foreign passport and your full name as indicated in your current or last visa, the bank stamp is required) *
6. 2 color photos, 3×4 size – 2 pcs
7. Original document confirming the completion of mandatory state fingerprint registration and medical examination + 1 photocopy)
8. Copy of marriage certificate, copy of children’s birth certificates

After you receive your new visa, you need to renew your residence registration (see Migration Registration-Visa Entry)!

Restoring a visa for a new passport

If you have a valid visa, but you had to apply for a new passport (if the passport was damaged, resulting in the impossibility of its further use, or stolen or lost), your visa can be restored after checking the grounds and confirming the fact of its issuance.

In this case, you need to apply to the Department of External Affairs of KFU, Gvardeiskaya St., . 9, Kazan, after obtaining a new passport.

You need to bring the following package of documents:

1. A new passport +2 copies of the first page2.Old passport + 2 copies of all passport pages
2. Migration card + 2 copies
3. Tear-off part of the form on the arrival of a foreign citizen (registration) + 2 copies of both sides
4. Photograph, 3×4 colored, matted
5. State duty (State duty requisites are available at the website of the Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Tatarstan; to pay the state duty you must use the number of your foreign passport and your full name as indicated in your current or latest visa; the bank stamp is required) *
   
   All documents and information you provide must be true and authentic.

The passport you submit must not be of doubtful authenticity and must not contain any marks, stipulations, notations, erasures or corrections not certified by the competent authorities of the foreign country in question, or pages torn or perforated; it must have at least two blank pages designated for visas; its validity must not normally expire earlier than six months after the date of expiry of the visa.

 *The data on the receipt must match the spelling of the surname and first name (as in the Russian visa), date of birth, citizenship, passport number and address of the place of registration.
