For graduates

After graduating from KFU you shall be issued the diploma that is recognized at the majority of countries. However, like any document on education, obtained in a foreign country it first should be subjected to the legalization procedures at the Russian Federation, and then to the academic recognition procedures (in accordance with the laws of the country where you are planning to present your diploma).

Step 1.  Legalization – is the procedure of a document’s verification carried out at the country of issuance and providing for the document’s validity overseas.

 

CASES WHEN THE LEGALIZATION FOR RUSSIAN DIPLOMAS IS NOT REQUIRED:

  1. If the Institution or organization you are to present the document at does not require its legalization. However, it might be necessary afterwards.
  2. Legalization is not required for the nationals of the following countries: Azerbaijan, Albania, Algeria, Argentina, Armenia, Belarus, Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Hungary, Vietnam, Greece, Georgia, Egypt, India, Iraq, Iran, Spain, Italy, Yemen, Kazakhstan, Cyprus, China, North Korea, Cuba, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Moldova, Mongolia, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Tajikistan, Tunisia, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, Finland, Croatia, Montenegro, Czech Republic, Estonia.

LEGALIZATION TYPES

  • Consular legalization(original diplomas)
  • Apostille (original diplomas)

CONSULAR LEGALIZATION

This type of legalization is required if your country has not signed the Hague Convention

– WHAT COUNTRY WOULD IT BE VALID FOR?

For the Country of the Consulate where the legalization procedures were carried out

– WHERE TO APPLY?
Attend either

1) Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.  Address: Moscow, 1st Neopalimovsky lane, 12, tel.: 8 (499) 244 37 97

or

2) Your Country’s Consulate in the Russian Federation

– REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

  • Letter of request for legalization from the University
  • Application form (you can download the template from the Consular Department website )
  • Personal ID document
  • Diploma
  • State fee payment receipt

– WHO CAN SUBMIT THE DOCUMENTS

Diploma’s holder or his/her representatives (relatives, friends or acquaintances currently staying in Russia). It should be noted that no confirmation is required to prove the relation of the applicant to the diploma’s holder.

 

APOSTILLE

This type of legalization is required if your country has signed the Hague Convention

Shall be valid in 115 states – participants of the Hague Apostille Convention (1961)

Attend the local office of Rosobrnadzor (Federal Service for the Supervision of Education and Science) of Russia:

– WHO CAN SUBMIT THE DOCUMENTS?

If you intend to assign this procedure to another person, prepare the notarized power of attorney first

 

It is vital to legalize your Russian diploma before leaving the country, having previously clarified the requirements you shall follow (those of the countries, educational organizations and Universities of your interest). The legalization type suitable for you shall depend on the legislation of the country you are heading for and your altogether depends on your further plans.

Please take this fact into the most serious consideration. In case you choose the wrong legalization type, you will have to come back to Russia for the required procedures or trust them upon a representative that may present extra problems.
