Migration registration – visa-free entry

To legally stay on the territory of the Russian Federation all foreign citizens must get a migration registration at the place of stay (residence). It is necessary to submit documents for migration registration (in other words – to obtain registration) within the deadlines established by migration legislation after crossing the border of the Russian Federation.

Migration registration (registration, tear-off part of the form on the arrival of a foreign citizen), which is issued upon arrival in the Russian Federation, as well as its further extension should be carried out at the actual place of stay (residence). If the address of actual stay (residence) and the address of migration registration (registration) are different, this would be a serious violation of migration legislation. Violation of the terms of application for migration registration and its extension is also a violation of migration legislation.

 Documents need to be submitted for migration registration (registration):

• at each new entry into the Russian Federation (when a new migration card is issued when crossing the border of the Russian Federation);
• In case of hospitalization
• In case of change of place of stay or residence (hostel, hotel, apartment, sanatorium, rest home, etc.).

You have just arrived in Russia, you have a new migration card in your hands:

Migration registration (registration) of foreign citizens from the visa-free countries, living in the dormitory of KFU

After your arrival in Russia, you are obliged within the prescribed period* from the day of arrival to appear in person at the Department of External Affairs, Kazan, Gvardeiskaya str., 9,  and provide the following documents:

1. Passport (original),
2. Migration card (original)
3. Rental contract for a dormitory (original)
4. Supplementary rental contract (original)
5. Education contract or the referral by the Russian Ministry of Science and Higher Education on the Russian Government Quota or a certificate from the study on a state-funded basis, or an employment contract (for employees of KFU).

All documents submitted must be valid. All copies are clear and legible. If these rules are not followed, the documents will not be accepted!

Migration registration (registration) of foreign citizens from the visa-free countries, living in rented apartments

 If you live in a rented apartment, the migration registration (registration) is executed by the owner of the apartment (the host) at the territorial department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation after you provide the host party with the following documents:

1. Passport
2. Migration card
3. Certificate confirming your student status (valid for 14 days)
4. Solicitation from KFU

To receive a solicitation you should apply to the Department of External Affairs of KFU, Gvardeiskaya Str. 9, Kazan.  Please bring your passport + a copy of pages with your data and the validity of your passport.

Extension of migration registration (registration):

Please apply for the extension of migration registration in advance, do not wait till the expiration of migration registration!   

Extension of migration registration (registration) of foreign citizens from the visa-free countries, living in the dormitory of KFU

After the term of migration registration expires, you will have to extend it. 

To do this, you must come in person to the Department of External Affairs of KFU, you must have the following documents with you:

1. Passport (original)
2. Migration card (original)
3. Contract of rent of accommodation in a dormitory (original)
4. Supplementary rental agreement (original)
5. Agreement on training for the contract or the direction of the Ministry of Education on Russian Government Quota, or a certificate from the study on a state-funded basis, an employment contract (for employees of KFU)
6. Previous migration registration (registration)

Extension of migration registration of foreign citizens from the visa-free countries, living in rented apartments

 If you live in a rented apartment, you need to re-apply to the owner (host) and provide him/her with the following documents to extend your registration:

1. Passport
2. Migration card
3. Certificate confirming your student status (period of validity 14 days)
4. Previous migration registration (registration)
5. Solicitation from KFU.

To receive a solicitation you should apply to the Department of External Affairs of KFU, Gvardeiskaya Str. 9, Kazan.  Please bring your passport + a copy of pages with your data and the validity of your passport.
