Rector Lenar Safin joins the plenary session of the 4th Kazan Global Youth Summit

The event was held on 29 August in the Eastern Hall of the new building of the Galiasgar Kamal Drama Theater.

One of the organizers of such a large-scale and significant event was Kazan Federal University.

The main speakers were the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and the Minister of Science and Higher Education of Russia Valery Falkov.

Today, the topic of discussion was education n the era of global changes. As Rustam Minnikhanov noted, in the era of rapid changes, it is the education that determines the stability of not only an individual, but also the state as a whole.

“This is not only about acquiring knowledge, but also about the formation of strong value guidelines, about the education of responsible, patriotic and caring citizens. Our common goal is to create a system in which every young person can find their individual trajectory – both in their profession and in their personal development. A system where traditional values - respect for family, work, culture – go hand in hand with modern opportunities for career growth,” the governor emphasized.

He also noted that the Republic of Tatarstan pays great attention to the development of youth international cooperation between Russia and the Islamic world and the BRICS countries.

For instance, specialized platforms for young diplomats and entrepreneurs are held annually within the framework of the international forum Russia – Islamic World: Kazan Forum.

“This year, the meeting of the Strategic Vision Group Russia – Islamic World, which I have the honor to head on behalf of the President of Russia, was dedicated to youth policy and timed to coincide with the 80th anniversary of our country’s Victory in the Great Patriotic War. It is necessary for young people to understand the value of peace, which our ancestors achieved at the cost of enormous losses. Knowledge and respect for history form patriotism and responsibility for the future. And today, it is extremely important for us to exchange best practices in personnel training, educating future generations and creating the best conditions for realizing the potential of our youth,” said Rustam Minnikhanov.

Valery Falkov, in turn, opined that Kazan has accumulated a wealth of experience in this area, given the many international events held here.

“And today, representatives of more than 20 foreign countries have gathered here,” he said. “Of course, the importance of working with young people as a part of Russian state policy is emphasized first and foremost in all strategic documents. Young people are our future. And we understand that at present, all of humanity as a whole is facing unprecedented challenges. To respond to these challenges, it is necessary to ensure quality education in a variety of areas of life.”

According to him, many foreign students today choose universities in Russia, including universities in Tatarstan.

“Kazan Federal University is one of the oldest and one of the leading Russian universities. It is the second in the country in terms of the number of foreign students. Foreign students feel comfortable here. You could see this for yourself by coming to the summit,” the federal official mentioned.

The President of the Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum Taha Ayhan and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Lavrov (via video address) also greeted the summit delegates.
