10th International Forum on Teacher Education started at KFU
This year’s event counts over 1,000 contributors.
The forum is organized by the university in cooperation with the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Russia, the Russian Academy of Education, the Federal Educational and Methodological Association of Higher Education.
This year the forum is aimed at solving the problems of scientific cooperation of researchers from BRICS countries and promoting the experience and values of Russian education in the world. The key theme of IFTE-2024 is the improvement of teacher training in the BRICS countries in the context of research-based transformation of teacher education.
The opening ceremony of the event was preceded by the anthem of Kazan University. On behalf of the Rector of Kazan Federal University Lenar Safin and the faculty and staff, the guests were welcomed by the President of KFU Riyaz Minzaripov, “Our university is one of the oldest in the country. It cherishes and develops traditions of science, education and enlightenment. Pedagogical programs occupy a significant place among the numerous educational programs of KFU”.
He also, reminded that the university holds high positions in the leading Russian and world rankings in education.
“Today KFU is among the largest centers for of pedagogical training in Russia. We hope that the forum participants will be able to discuss the results of their research, accumulated practices, as well as be able to develop specific recommendations to improve the educational process and make their scientific contribution to the formation of a new national strategy for teacher training,” concluded the President of KFU.
President of the Russian Academy of Education Olga Vasilyeva welcomed the IFTE-2024 participants in a video message, “It is gratifying to observe the history of development of the forum, which has turned from a small conference into a large-scale event that traditionally attracts the attention of leading Russian and foreign researchers. The theme announced this year, Research Transformation of Teacher Education: Traditions as the Basis for Innovation, is more relevant than ever today, when the Russian teacher training system is on the threshold of serious changes.”
Yury Zinchenko, President of the Russian Psychological Society, Dean of the Faculty of Psychology of Moscow State University, also addressed the guests via video link.
The opening ceremony was held with the participation of Roza Akhmadieva, Academician-Secretary of the Department of Social and Economic Sciences of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan, Rector of Kazan State Institute of Culture. In her speech she emphasized that the teacher plays a key role in all spheres of life, and also spoke about the transformation of pedagogical activity in Tatarstan. President of the World Association of Educational Researchers, Director of the Centre for the Study of Resilience of the University of Pretoria Liesel Ebersöhn welcomed the participants of the forum. As a sign of respect and gratitude, the guests were presented with gift watches in honor of the 220th anniversary of KFU.
The program was continued by the plenary session. The forum comprises round tables, symposia, discussion platforms, pitch sessions, master classes. It takes up 29 May to 1 June.
