18th Russia-China in a Changing World Conference held at KFU




The opening ceremony on 9th October was joined by Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Kazan Xiang Bo, Director of the Academy Confucius (Saint-Petersburg) Yang Cuiyan, Vice-Rector for International Affairs of KFU Timirkhan Alishev, Deputy Director for Research of the Institute of International Relations Vadim Kozlov, and others.
Vice-Rector Alishev noted recent developments in bilateral relations, including a visa-free travel regime and mutual education exchange year (2026) between Russia and China. Currently, KFU has 1,800 Chinese students and over 80 cooperation partners in China.
Consul General Xiang mentioned the 80th year anniversary of the great victories of Soviet and Chinese people in the Second World War, “80 years later, the world faces new challenges and hardships. Some countries want to dominate, but Russia and China as permanent members of the UN Security Council must protect the results of the Second World War and build a more rational and just international order through a concerted effort.”
Among the guests of the event were experts of Saint Petersburg State University, Saint Petersburg Society of Russian-Chinese Friendship, Russian State University of Humanities, MGIMO University, Financial University of the Government of Russia, Russian State Pedagogical University, Buryat State University, and others.
The conference featured a presentation of the 3rd volume of a planned 7-volume collection of Russian translations of famous Chinese novelist Pu Songling‘s “Liao zhai zhi yi” (“Strange Tales from a Chinese Studio”) and an assistance textbook Numerals in Chinese Language.
