6th Kazan International Linguistic Summit discussed Russian language and literature as instruments of shaping Russian identity and international integration

The event was held on 22nd – 24th October 2025.

The event was attended by Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan Leila Fazleeva, Chairman of the Tatarstan State Council Committee on Education, Culture, Science, and Ethnic Affairs Airat Zaripov, First Vice-Rector of Kazan Federal University Dmitry Tayursky, Director of the Institute of Philology and Intercultural Communication Radif Zamaletdinov, representatives of diplomatic missions, scholars, and students.

The summit is dedicated to three anniversaries: the 180th anniversary of the birth of Ivan Baudouin de Courtenay, the founder of the Kazan Linguistic School; the 150th anniversary of his tenure at Kazan University; and the 190th anniversary of the Leo Tolstoy Higher School of Russian Philology and Culture. These dates determined the main focus of the sections, seminars, and roundtable discussions. The conference’s geographic reach is extensive – over 2,500 participants from Russian regions and abroad have registered to participate. Among them are representatives of partner universities, educational institutions, and research institutes.

Leila Fazleeva addressed the gathering on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Tatarstan and Prime Minister Alexey Pesoshin, assuring that the regional leadership always supports the initiatives of the scientific community.

The participants received greetings from Lilia Gumerova, Chair of the Federation Council Committee on Science, Education, and Culture, Olga Vasilyeva, President of the Russian Academy of Education, and others. Airat Zaripov read a greeting from Farid Mukhametshin, Chairman of the State Council of the Republic of Tatarstan.

Among the speakers at the plenary session was Shakhlo Khasanova, Dean of the Faculty of Russian Language and Literature at the Sotim Ulughzoda Tajik International University of Foreign Languages. She said that she felt at home in Kazan.

During the event, awards were given out to representatives of the Institute of Philology and Intercultural Communication.
