Pertinent issues discussed at Practice GeoChemistry 2024
3rd Scientific and Practical Conference on Petroleum Hydrogeology, Geochemistry and Hydrodynamic Modeling opened at Kazan Federal University on 25 June.
The conference is organized by the Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies (IGPT) and the Center for Liquid Hydrocarbons.
Danis Nurgaliev, Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Vice-Rector for Earth Sciences, opened the conference. He noted that today there are great opportunities for solving various practical problems in geology, one of them is the use of modeling methods that allow to carry out forecasting and effectively manage the development of oil and gas fields.
“I think that today and tomorrow at the conference we will hear about new achievements in oil and gas geology, hydrogeology, and hydrodynamic modeling,” he emphasized.
The Vice-Rector emphasized that now a lot of attention is paid to the issues of water research, including potable water. Papers on this subject are also presented at the two-day conference.
“I am glad to see you again in Kazan, in Kazan Federal University. I think you will get great pleasure from communicating with each other, a new impetus for work, new interesting ideas will appear,” added Dr Nurgaliev in his address. “I hope that we will be able to discuss these ideas and that we will have new partners with whom we will work together to solve complex problems of geology and hydrogeology”.
Sergei Kaigorodov, head of programs for the development of hydrodynamic modeling at Gazprom Neft’s Scientific and Technical Center, wished the participants of the event new achievements.
“The conference unites, it would seem, quite unrelated topics – hydrogeology, geochemistry, and hydrodynamic modeling. But every year we find more and more points of contact, joint topics for discussion,” he noted. “Besides, as the practical experience of scientific research and development shows, sometimes the most unexpected scientific discoveries and significant scientific achievements are made at the intersection of different disciplines”.
Ildus Chukmarov, Deputy Director for Marketing, Director of the Center for Advanced Training, Quality Management and Marketing (CdoGEO), told about advanced training and professional retraining courses in hydrodynamic modeling.
The opening ceremony was followed by the plenary session Technological Development in the New Realities, which addressed topical issues of technological development of the oil and gas industry. The session was moderated by Sergei Kaigorodov. It was attended by Damir Shaikhutdinov, Deputy Head for Organizational Development of the Modeling Center ofTatneft, Nikita Morozov, Expert of Gazprom Neft STC, Vladislav Sudakov, Deputy Director of IGPT for Innovation, Oleg Pichugin, Deputy Head of Advanced Petroleum Engineering School of Almetyevsk State Technological University – Higher School of Petroleum.
The conference comprises several breakout sessions: hydrogeology, pertinent issues of oil and gas geochemistry, geochemistry of oil and gas reservoirs, complex hydrodynamic modeling, etc.
