Students join national Save the Forest initiative

The tree planting event was organized during the last weekend in Vysokaya Gora District near Kazan.

Students of environmental sciences and employees planted over 500 spruce trees in total – the seedlings were provided by local forestation authorities.

This year marks the fifth time when Save the Forest was held across the nation. In Tatarstan, 170 groups comprising 20 thousand people joined the initiative. They planted 2 million seedlings in several districts of the province.

Minister of Forestry of Tatarstan Ravil Kuzyurov expressed his wholehearted gratitude to everyone involved.

Save the Forest is organized by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology of Russia, Federal Agency of Forestry, and National Forest Volunteers Movement. The goal this year was to plant 70 million new trees, mostly in areas seriously affected by forest fires.
