Ambassador of Brazil to Russia Rodrigo Baena Soares welcomed by University leadership
A meeting with Rector Lenar Safin occurred on 18 October.
The sides discussed cooperation in science and education. The Ambassador emphasized that his country pays much attention to arranging effective interactions between Russian and Brazilian universities. Rector Safin said the same about Russia’s priorities.
“Our interaction is strengthened by the state policy of friendship and mutual support conducted at the highest level on both sides. Speaking specifically about our current cooperation with the Embassy of Brazil, I would like to note the opening of the Center for Latin American Culture at the Institute of International Relations in February of this year together with representatives of the Embassy. On the basis of the center various events are held, including those related to the Brazilian Portuguese language learning program, Lectorate, and in general on Ibero-American topics. We can confidently state the growing mutual interest in language, history and culture between the peoples of our countries, including on the part of young people,” said Dr Safin.
About 180 students are currently studying Portuguese at Kazan University. There are also Brazilian students and Brazilian teachers here, as well as ongoing research collaborations.
In conclusion, Ambassador Soares reiterated his interest in strengthening the links between KFU and Brazilian peers.
