Board of Trustees of the Jizzakh Branch of KFU holds first meeting
Rector of Kazan Federal University Lenar Safin is on a working visit to the Republic of Uzbekistan.
As part of the official trip, Rector took part in the first meeting of the Board of Trustees. The event was held in the local government’s building and chaired by Governor (Khokim) of Jizzakh Region Ergash Saliev.
Addressing the Board members, Lenar Safin reminded that the establishment of branches of Russian universities in the Republic of Uzbekistan became possible thanks to the historic agreement between President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev in October 2018. At the same time, an intergovernmental agreement between the two countries was signed.
“The opening of a branch of Kazan University in Jizzakh was an important incentive for the start of active cooperation between the region and Tatarstan. In April 2023, thanks to the support of the Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan, a simulation center for medical education was opened. The center is an important platform for the development of practical competencies of future doctors,” said the Rector, noting that most of the simulators for the Center were designed and manufactured in Kazan.
He also added that KFU is currently working on a project to launch the provision of high-tech medical care on the territory of the branch using telemedicine technologies. This project should help improve the quality of medical care, increase the efficiency of management functions and, in general, bring the region’s healthcare system to a new level.
This year, the Jizzakh Branch is to undergo the procedure of state accreditation in Russia, after which the branch will be able to issue state diplomas – similar to diplomas in Kazan.
“Our main task is to ensure high quality of education,” Lenar Safin emphasized. “Every semester we send up to 40% of the teaching staff of the branch from Kazan. In addition, KFU has started a program of professional development for the teachers at the branch itself. A number of scientific conferences are planned.”
In his speech, the Rector paid special attention to the specific tasks that are currently facing the university’s representative office in Jizzakh. In particular, it is about the repair of one of the dormitory buildings, as well as the creation of new training laboratories and construction of a new building. In the geology and petroleum technologies, KFU came forward with an initiative to create a research center on at the branch for its integration into large projects in cooperation with Russian and foreign industrial partners.
The Governor said that the Board of Trustees will certainly consider all the initiatives of Kazan University and will provide all possible support in their implementation.
“KFU branch was created primarily to support socio-economic development of Jizzakh and neighboring regions, as well as for the development of educational cooperation between Russia and Uzbekistan,” Ergash Saliev said. “Our region is one of the most dynamically developing in Uzbekistan. Active construction, opening of new production facilities and enterprises testify to the demand for qualified personnel trained by Kazan University. In this regard, the members of the Board of Trustees are ready to work with representatives of the university on existing programs and on programs to be opened in the near future. We are ready to consider various investment projects and provide our opportunities for practical training.”
At the end of the meeting Kazan Federal University and the Indian Specialty Healthcare Organization in Jizzakh signed a cooperation agreement.
The joint project will be aimed at combining efforts in order to create a medical research and educational enterprise in Jizzakh, which will provide high-tech medical care to the population, as well as practical training for students and scientific and clinical research.
