Institute of Social and Philosophical Sciences wins 2023 KFU Futsal Cup
They met geologists in a thrilling final match on 20 December.
As for the Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies, their road to the final included victories over the Institute of Fundamental Medicine and Biology (6:2), the Institute of Psychology and Education (3:3, 3:2 pen.), and the Faculty of Law (2:2, 3:2 pen.).
The fate of the cup could have been decided in the regulation time, but the geologists’ 10-meter penalty was saved by goalkeeper Vladislav Smantser, who was among the stars of the evening. So the winner had to be determined – for a first time in the KFU Cup history – in a penalty shootout. It was even more dramatic than the previous events, with both teams making 7 shots at goal. At one moment, the fans thought the match was over and rushed to the court when Smantser saved another penalty, but the referee deemed the save illegal and ordered a reshoot. Nevertheless, the ISPSMC team prevailed in the end.
The personal achievement awards went to the following athletes:
Best Goalkeeper – Vladislav Smantser (ISPSMC);
Best Defender – Adel Farrakhov (IGPT);
Best Pivot – Seymur Osmanov (IGPT);
MVP – Dinar Galiev (ISPSMC).
