KFU offers support to Mariupol State University

A new fundraising initiative was put forth by Yelabuga Institute for one of the leading universities of the Donetsk People’s Republic.

“Colleagues were left with almost nothing. Because of this, there are difficulties with the educational process – up to the fact that there is no stationery. Students of the Yelabuga Institute collect everything they need from office supplies, and teachers and staff have also initiated a fundraiser to purchase digital devices that will help in organizing the educational process. A large package is being prepared, which will include manuals created by KFU teachers. We also gave Mariupol University access to the Institute’s digital educational resources, which can be used from anywhere and at any time,” says Director of the Yelabuga Institute Yelena Merzon. An advanced training course may soon be organized for Mariupolites at KFU.

“We, as teachers, must set an example, involve students in helping Mariupol University. Everyone helped from the bottom of their hearts, it was the absolute desire of everyone. We collected stationery, equipment, financial assistance,” share Mariya Yeflova, Deputy Director of the Institute of Social and Philosophical Sciences and Mass Communications.

Yelena Karasik, Deputy Director of the Institute of Management, Economics and Finance, opines, “Education is a fundamental value that allows a person to build their career and plan their future. I really want to help the administration, teachers, students to be able to fully implement the educational process, gain knowledge that will later allow them to be applied for the prosperity of the region, economic well-being as now a part of the Russian Federation.”

The Institute of Philology and Intercultural Communication also joined the activity, “We have collected various stationery and teaching aids. The departments of the Institute allocated more than 100 methodological materials, which included valuable workshops in foreign languages, teaching aids on the Russian language and literature, textbooks, including workbooks, monographs, and dictionaries,” says Deputy Director Gulnaz Izhbayeva.

Representatives of Mariupol University have collectively voiced their gratitude, “It is important that, in addition to advisory, scientific and methodological assistance, we feel the strongest moral support in those difficult conditions in which we currently have to work. It is important to realize that there are like-minded people in all corners of our great nation who are ready to help us revive higher education in Mariupol. Now we are working hard to restore the material and technical base, which was seriously damaged. The scientific library needs updating. The scientific and pedagogical staff is full of optimism and enthusiasm. Therefore, it is also important to create all conditions and provide an opportunity to improve qualifications, defend dissertations, and obtain academic titles.”
