KFU’s archeological school hosted by Uzbekistan

9th International Archeological School opened doors in Samarkand.

The school was first held in 2014 by KFU’s Institute of International Relations and Tatarstan Academy of Sciences. This year’s first stage took place in Bolgar Historical Museum Reserve, in Tatarstan, on 15 – 28 August. The second part in Uzbekistan features over 50 young experts from the host country, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Russia, Belarus, Moldova, India, Egypt, and Pakistan.

Among the co-organizers are KFU, Tatarstan Academy of Sciences, Bolgar State Historical Museum Reserve, International Institute for Central Asian Studies, International Silk Road University, Institute of Archeology (Uzbekistan Academy of Sciences), Bukhara State University, and Samarkand State Museum Reserve.

The event includes lectures, roundtables, panels, and other formats, touching on the history of the Golden Horde, the city of Bukhara, Central Asian numismatics, ceramics, and other subjects. Among other foci of interest are geo-information systems, historiography, categorization of historical heritage, and laboratory treatment of archeological ceramics and metals.
