Sankaran Subramanian receives 2022 Zavoisky Award

The award ceremony was held at the Tatarstan Academy of Sciences on 3 October.

Professor Subramanian (Indian Institute of Technology Madras) was commended for contribution to electron paramagnetic resonance tomography for noninvasive quantitative oximetry of tumors.

The laureate was congratulated by Director of the Kazan Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences Aleksey Kalachev, Minister of Education and Science of Tatarstan Ilsur Khadiullin, Chairman of the Award Committee Kev Salikhov, President of the Tatarstan Academy of Sciences Myakzyum Salakhov, and Director of the KFU Institute of Physics Marat Gafurov.

Director Gafurov noted, “I represent the Institute where Yevgeny Zavoisky discovered electron paramagnetic resonance. It’s amazing how this method has found so many applications in chemistry, medicine, and biology. I must express gratitude to Kev Salikhov and the leadership of Tatarstan for upholding the distinguished reputation of this award for many years.”

In conclusion, Sankaran Subramanian delivered a lecture on his research.
