Student to receive funding for toy production startup

Polina Ivanova is among the winners of the Student Startup contest’s Creative Industries nomination.

“I plan to open a production line of toys and furniture from thermal wood,” shares the winner. “This material is not afraid of moisture, sunlight, and fungi. It’s commonly used in high-quality individual housing. Our company will be the first in Russia to utilize thermal wood in such a manner. The products will be very durable and can survive generations.”

A special thermal camera has already been built for the production. Several months were needed to optimize temperature and other parameters of the camera. Among the species planned for production are beech, pine, oak, and birch, as well as fiber board.

“We are going to issue eco-friendly wooden toys, such as rattles, teethers, puzzles, cubes, dolls, and pyramids. The child furniture line will include beds, wardrobes, tables, chairs, coat hangers, shelves, and cradles. We also want to produce wall bars and toy kitchens,” says Ivanova.

She hopes that the products will be in demand thanks to their eco-friendliness, design, and durability. Recently, the demand for quality child products has been growing in Russia.

Employment at the new firm will be tailored to all categories, including persons with disabilities.
