University presents its annual results of Priority 2030 projects to the Grant Board

Our leadership partook in a session in Moscow on 11 December.

In his summary for the Board (helmed by Minister of Science and Higher Education of Russia Valery Falkov), Rector Lenar Safin noted, “We are ahead of schedule in non-public funding and investment benchmarks. As part of the Priority 2030 initiative, 77 new laboratories have been launched. As of today, 134 technologies and products have been created, and 12 license agreements have been signed.”

To streamline innovation, KFU established a special center – which has already helped register 196 objects of intellectual property. Lenar Safin commented that KFU has adhered to its selected track (Territorial Leadership), “This whole year has been dedicated to outlining the Program of Scientific and Technological Development of Tatarstan – KFU is the primary author. Our strategic projects are the core of the province’s future ecosystem.”

There are five strategic projects chosen by the University – Genomic and Post-Genomic Technologies, Energy Transition, Meta-Platform Solutions for IT and AI, Human Potential, and Digital Studies of Materials.

As for internationalization, KFU finalized a deal to open its branch in Jizzakh, Uzbekistan, in autumn 2022. 360 students enrolled this year.

The Rector mentioned the University’s focus on digital platforms for HR and education, of which there are currently 12. He said that Studerus – an online Russian language study app – is probably the most dynamic, having found very lively reception in Iran, Turkey, and Egypt.

Later in December, the Priority 2030 participants will be informed of their evaluation. KFU is among the 45 universities to have received both parts of the grant – the so-called general and special grants, amounting respectively to 100 million and 1 billion rubles per year.

As hinted in the name, the initiative is slated for this whole decade.
