University visited by Consul General of Turkey in Kazan Ismet Erikan

He spoke with Rector Lenar Safin on 3 November.

They were joined by Vice-Rector for External Affairs Timirkhan Alishev.

“Turkey is now among the leaders in terms of joint companies working in Tatarstan. Educational and cultural ties between us are growing rapidly,” noted the Rector. He mentioned Turkology as one the priorities in humanities for KFU. In particular, the University has the Turkish World Center and published the Turkological Research journal in Russian.

There are 227 Turkish students at KFU and 10 active cooperation agreements with Turkish institutions, such as Ankara University, Middle East Technical University, and TÜBİTAK National Observatory.

Ismet Erikan congratulated Dr. Safin on the latter’s appointment as rector and wished him best of luck, “I hope that we continue our positive collaboration. I am sure our joint work will strengthen the partnership and cultural ties between our countries.”
