Days of Latin American Culture conclude with a big concert

The academic year’s last entertainment event was titled The Carnival.

In the entrance hallway of the UNICS building, the students organized a small exhibition with a photo zone, fun contests, and traditional snacks.

“I adore visiting events organized by international students. It’s always very interesting and atmospheric. You can familiarize yourself with the cultures of other nations,” commented third-year student Ainara Eminova.

Before the concert, Director of the International Office Olga Vershinina addressed the audience.

An award ceremony for winners of futsal and volleyball tournaments then followed.

The concert itself followed a single storyline, where the queen of the ball lost her crown and blamed another young woman, Beatriz, who supposedly might have committed the deed out of jealousy for the queen’s artistic talents. Beatriz vehemently denied the accusation, and they set out to find the crown – aided by the performances of other students.

The actress who played Beatriz, Olga Tyuvikova, said, “When I was in my second year, a girl from Colombia transferred to our group. We quickly became friends, and I became socializing from Latin American students more and more. I’ve been learning Spanish for a year now, and it’s very exciting. When the preparations for this day began, I was called up to perform and gladly agreed.”
