Festival of Eastern Cultures opened by KFU at KazanForum 2025

The forum, featuring participants from 103 countries, is taking place from 13 to 18 May.

The program of the festival is rich. For the guests of KazanForum, students and professors, as well as representatives of the Al-Khadara Center of Arab Culture of the Institute of International Relations, History and Eastern Studies, organized creative and educational master classes, contests, film screenings, music and dance performances, lectures and much more. The festival unfolded at the Kazan Expo and will run for three days.

Before the start of the event, the opening of the exhibitions “Luster of the Arabian Pearl” and “Iranian Motives”, as well as the exhibition of posters “The East through the eyes of students of Tatarstan” took place.

The opening ceremony of the festival was attended by Faik Saeed, Advisor to the President of Yemen, Dawood Mirzakhani, Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Kazan, Marat Gatin, Aide to the Rais (Head) of the Republic of Tatarstan, as well as Director of the Department of International Student Mobility of Sultan Qaboos University (Sultanate of Oman) Al Qasimi Hamoud Mohammed Saif, Acting Director of IIRHES Rail Fakhrutdinov, and Executive Director of Al-Khadara Center, Associate Professor of the Department of Arab Studies, Islamic Studies and Afro-Asian Studies Mohammed Al-Ammari. Welcoming speeches were accompanied by national songs and dances from Tunisia, Iran, Egypt, Oman, and other countries.

After the opening ceremony the festival will continue with an open lecture “Specifics of translation from and into Arabic”, master classes on oriental headdress, Indonesian language, Swahili and Hindi, and colorful performances. In addition, the event included a Festival of video clips of KFU students telling about Eastern countries, as well as the presentation of the scientific journal Arabistics of Eurasia.

The festival will end on May 16. The program includes poetry readings, master classes “Palestinian embroidery” and “Oriental henna patterns”, an open lecture “Arabic language – a star of civilization that knows no sunset” by Professor of Qatar University, Dr. Muntasir Faiz Al-Hamad, a screening of RT Arabic documentary Khanjar, and others.
