Sophomore student Anait Khachaturyan wins Pearl of the World 2021 talent pageant

The 11th contest under this name took place in Kazan on May 25.

The pageant is conducted by Committee for Youth and Children Affairs of Kazan, Association of International Students of Kazan, Youth Assembly of Tatarstan, and Ministry of Youth Affairs of Tatarstan.

The age bracket for Pearl of the World participants is 18 to 25. There are five stages: preliminaries, pre-finals, a literature evening, a mother tongue lesson, and finals. The finals included two runway walks, self-introduction, and a creative contest. This year’s finals featured 12 young women.

The winner, Anait Khachaturyan, was born in Kazan, but regularly visits her father’s motherland – Armenia. He studies linguistics at the Institute of International Relations.

Since secondary school, Anait wanted to partake in Pearl of the World, and she even helped other Armenian contestants in preparations. In 2020, after joining the student ranks, she passed the preliminaries for the pageant, but it was cancelled because of the pandemic. This time, all of the finalists of the cancelled event were invited to join.

The winner confessed that she really wanted to be the first and had put much effort into preparations.

“To some degree, I was expecting this result. I received great support from the audience – my family, friends, and my team. It was euphoric. I really cannot put those emotions into words. It was a very important competition for me,” said the triumphant.

Apart from a winner’s crown, she received two gift certificates – for a photo shoot and for a plane ticket. The latter will conveniently be used to visit Armenia, as Anait noted.
