Delegation of the Higher School of Economics welcomed at KFU

The guests arrived on 8 February.

The HSE team comprised Vice-Rector for International Affairs Victoria Panova, Counsellor to the Vice-Rector Anna Kuznetsova, and Director for Internationalization Yulia Grinkevich.

The guests first toured the History Museum, the Lenin Memorial Classroom, and the Emperor Ballroom. A meeting with Vice-Rector for International Affairs Timirkhan Alishev and Director of the International Office Olga Vershinina then followed.

Vice-Rector Alishev presented the University’s strategy and priorities and spoke about international students, of which there are currently 11,572 from 101 countries.

“Initially, the growth of international student body was mainly in economics, philology, and international relations. Then followed other departments,” said he.

Dr Alishev briefly introduced a number of services for international students which streamline their various dealings with the University, such as migration registration and academic performance. He also talked about the Preparatory School and extracurricular activities for overseas students.

The HSE delegation was familiarized with KFU’s priorities in internationalization for 2023, among which are growth of international enrolment; betterment of migration and accommodation procedures; increased involvement of foreign nationals into research, arts, and athletics; development of the alumni association; further growth of KFU’s Jizzakh Branch in Uzbekistan; and improvement and widening of partnership links around the world.

In conclusion, the visitors proceeded to the International Office to get acquainted with its day-to-day activities on the ground.
