Kazan University ranked second in Russia by the number of international students

It has reached 10,883 persons from 101 countries during this academic year, which is almost 10% higher than in the previous year.

«The most represented countries among KFU students are Uzbekistan, China, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Iran, Turkey, and Egypt,» says Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Timirkhan Alishev. “The most popular specializations are economics, medicine, linguistics, management, dentistry, program engineering, and petroleum engineering.”

A significant growth takes place at the Preparatory School for International Students as well.

«Compared to the previous year, enrolment has grown almost twofold and is now 1,300 persons in all programs. Some contribution has been definitely made by Studerus Web, an online learning platform which has made the distance education process more involving and convenient,» explains Alishev.

The current number of international students in Russia is 324 thousand. The largest number of overseas nationals in the country is studying at RUDN University in Moscow.
