Negotiations held with Deputy Minister of Higher and Vocational Education of Uzbekistan

Rector Ilshat Gafurov and Uzokboy Begimkulov talked via video conference on June 1.

Vice-Rector for International Cooperation Timirkhan Alishev and Vice-Rector for Biomedicine Andrey Kiyasov joined on the Kazanian side, and Deputy Governor of Jizzakh Region Azim Akhmedkhadzhaev and First Deputy Minister of Healthcare of Uzbekistan Amrillo Inoyatov logged in from Uzbekistan.

The sides pondered prerequisites for a hypothetical opening of a KFU branch in Uzbekistan. A project of the agreement on this matter is under discussion.

Rector Gafurov assured that the university is ready to offer academic programs should such signing take place. The Uzbekistani side needs to decide on a location for the branch and to solve the questions of dormitories and apartments for employees.

Deputy Minister Begimkulov said that such an agreement would give a further boost to bilateral cooperation and noted that Jizzakh Region is the best choice for branch placement. The province currently is in need of IT experts and doctors, which should become a focus for the branch.
