New dorms and study building to be constructed for Naberezhnye Chelny Institute

A meeting with interested parties was arranged by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Russia on April 22.

Kazan Federal University was represented by Vice-Rector for Construction and Maintenance Lenar Safiullin and Director of Naberezhnye Chelny Institute Makhmut Ganiev.

“By May 15, we plan to receive completed projects for two new dorms and a classroom building,” shared Ganiev. “By late June, we should obtain an official expertise evaluation for the projects. After that, funding should be allocated.”

The dorms are planned to accommodate 541 persons each. The study building will occupy 24 thousand square meters with classrooms for 1,100 persons. This building will be a home for departments of automation and robotics.

Ganiev added, “The project was approved in light of the planned transformation of the Naberezhnye Chelny Institute into a technical university. The institute is going to retain the name but should lean more heavily into technological aspects. One of the important points is to improve infrastructure.”
