The event was joined by Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Yekaterina Turilova and Vice-Rector for International Affairs Timirkhan Alishev. Cairo Branch opened its doors in December 2023. Currently, it implements three educational programs of medicine and has 385 students. Medical biophysics and AI majors are planned for opening in the near future.
As of now, the entrance examinations are ongoing, and more than 1,000 local applicants have already taken part.
During his visit Marat Gatin noted the special importance of opening a branch of the Russian University in Cairo. Today Russian education is highly valued by Egyptian citizens, and the opportunity to receive it without traveling abroad is very attractive for talented school graduates of this country.
“The Branch implements its activities in accordance with the decree of the President of the Arab Republic of Egypt. Currently, the Branch teaches medicine, dentistry, and pharmacy. At the same time, the educational process is conducted in full compliance with Russian educational standards. Classes are taught by KFU employees, as well as invited teachers of leading Egyptian universities, many of whom are graduates of Russian universities. The branch has serious plans to expand the list of educational programs. In the next calendar year we also expect to commission a new campus of the branch, the design of which has already been completed,” commented the Head of the Russian House in Cairo.
As Vice-Rector Alishev told the KFU Media Communications Center, the plan is to build a large campus with five academic buildings and a dormitory for the teaching staff.
During the meeting with Mr Gatin, an agreement was reached to hold joint events aimed at deepening the knowledge of Egyptian students about the country, Russian culture, and Russian language. The Branch has already held events dedicated to Victory Day and Russia Day. It was decided to develop a plan of joint events for the upcoming academic year.
The final entrance examinations for applicants will be held in Cairo in mid-September. The academic year at the Branch will begin on October 5.
