KFU students begin internship at Sultan Qaboos University
Our students have begun their studies in Arabic language and Omani culture at Sultan Qaboos University. The program, organized by the Omani institution, will run until February 22.
Over 80 students from partner universities are participating, primarily from Russia and the China. This group includes 11 students from Kazan Federal University. The participation of the Russian students is coordinated by the Al-Khadara Center for Arabic Culture at the Institute of International Relations, History and Eastern Studies.
The opening ceremony was attended by the Rector of Sultan Qaboos University, His Highness Dr. Fahad bin Al-Julanda Al-Said. Distinguished guests included Oleg Levin, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Sultanate of Oman. Mohammed Al-Ammari, Director of the Al-Khadara Center for Arabic Culture, delivered a welcoming address on behalf of the Russian delegation.
“This program is much more than just language lessons. Thanks to this internship, students from different countries can not only learn Arabic but also truly get to know the unique culture of Oman – a culture rooted in hospitality and wise dialogue with the entire world,” noted Mohammed Al-Ammari.
As part of the program, students receive daily Arabic language instruction and participate in cultural and educational activities, including lectures, workshops, and excursions. Upon completion of the program, all participants will receive official certificates.
KFU students are already sharing their initial impressions.
“Oman is my first immersion into an Arabic environment and, generally, my first solo trip. The studies at the university are very productive and fruitful, and the teachers are kind. I am happy that I can simply go out into the street and communicate with everyone in Arabic. I want to stay here longer, admire the beauty, and, of course, improve my language skills,” says Adelya Valiullina, a 3rd-year student.
Later this month, a group of KFU students will depart for a full semester of study at Sultan Qaboos University.
“I am currently in Muscat. I still can’t believe this is reality! Every day of the internship reveals something incredible to me: from mesmerizing views of nature to conversations with amazing people at Sultan Qaboos University. The nature in Oman is simply wonderful. I constantly find myself thinking: ‘How beautiful it is here!’ Huge thanks to the Al-Khadara Center for this opportunity. I feel myself growing professionally and personally. Every day I thank fate for this experience,” adds another 3rd-year student Anastasia Volodina.
Last year, both a semester study program and a short-term cultural-educational internship were offered to KFU students by SQU. Those were organized with the support of the Program for the Program of the Languages of Friendly Countries. Last year, Omani students also participated in the Summer University project for the first time. Reciprocal visits by the rectors of both universities also took place, serving to strengthen the strategic partnership.
