Monthly stipend raises announced for several majors

A briefing about the ongoing admission campaign was held by the Government of Tatarstan.

The speakers were the Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Tatarstan Ilsur Khadiullin and rectors of the leading universities of Tatarstan, including Lenar Safin.

The Rector noted that KFU plans to admit about 16,000 freshmen this year. Of those, 7,499 applicants will be allocated budget-funded vacancies. Since the official start of the admission campaign, more than 10,000 applications have already been submitted to the University. It is expected that the total number of applications will reach 180,000 by the end of the admission campaign.

Lenar Safin also singled out the institutes where applicants with the highest average Unified State Exam (USE) score aspire to get into. These are the Institute of Information Technologies and Intelligent Systems, Institute of Chemistry, Faculty of Law, Institute of Computational Mathematics and Information Technologies, and Institute of International Relations.

In addition, this year KFU begins admitting applicants for new programs – Arts and Humanities, History of Arts, and Public Policy and Social Sciences.

The Rector emphasized some of the support measures for top performers.

Thus, high USE scorers and Olympiad students enrolled in KFU in 2024 will receive up to 300,000 rubles as a one-time disbursal.

Additionally, in the new academic year, students of a number of majors will also receive stimuli. In particular, top-performing students increased monthly stipends of 5,000 rubles in 2023, which was an additional motivation and led to an increase of such students in the university by 10%.

This year Kazan University also plans to stimulate students who have chosen the majors of Radio Physics and Astronomy with ts own funds – this is an increase in the basic stipend to 4,000 rubles a month and increased stipends to 5,800 rubles; and the major in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science, where students will receive up to 5,500 rubles.
