During a recent Student of the Year at KFU 2022 ceremony, PhD students were commended separately – the grand prix of the PhD nomination went to Fadis Murzakhanov, Junior Research Associate of the Laboratory of Multifunctional Materials for Quantum Sensors. By now, Murzakhanov has contributed to 29 peer-reviewed papers and is himself a reviewer of Elsevier and MDPI journals. He has won numerous accolades from various foundations and bodies. His soon to be presented PhD thesis is titled ‘Optically polarized electronic states of triplet centers in silicon carbide crystals of the 4H polytype and hexagonal boron nitride’.

The ongoing decade of 2022-2031 is officially titled the Decade of Science and Technology in Russia. Among other things, this also implies measures to ensure a steady growth of PhD researchers in the most important subject areas.
