KFU student Joy Alabi wins Pearl of the World talent pageant

This 14th iteration of the pageant was co-hosted by the Comittee for Children’s and Youth Affairs of the Executive Commitee of Kazan, Ministry of Youth Affairs of Tatarstan, Peoples’ Friendship House of Tatarstan, and Youth Assembly of the Peoples of Tatarstan.
Joy Alabi noted how her journey to this victory started during the event’s last season, “One of the participants was my friend, and I helped her to prepare a creative performance number. That’s how I decided to try myself in this as well. I thought I was fated for this.”
She confessed that preparing for the pageant was laborious, “After the registration in February, the first preliminary stage took place, and then training and recitals. We held several literature events and a series of major preparation trials.”
On the most important qualities for the Pearl of the World winner, Joy opined that beauty is not the main thing, “You have to have a passion for your culture. It’s important to love your traditions and how you share them with the public, along with self-confidence, the manner of speaking, and much more.”
Joy thinks that social activities help her in her studies, “It’s a kind of education as well. One can say that I master the university curriculum along with the ‘social curriculum’.”
In March, Joy spoke about her experiences in an interview for our Second Home project.
