Medical workers commended by Rector Lenar Safin on their professional holiday

Every year, on the third Sunday of June, Medical Workers’ Day is observed, a time when the nation honors those who have chosen the noble vocation of accompanying individuals from birth, preventing disease, and extending life.
On this occasion, a ceremonial event was held at Kazan Federal University to recognize the physicians and medical personnel affiliated with the university. The medical field has been integral to the institution since its founding and remains one of its strategic priorities.
At present, Kazan Federal University hosts a medical cluster that integrates fundamental biomedical research with clinical practice. During the ceremony, its staff were awarded and congratulated for their dedicated and responsible service by representatives of the Government of the Republic of Tatarstan, as well as by members of the university’s multidisciplinary community.
On behalf of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Tatarstan, First Deputy Minister Elena Demyanova delivered an address, emphasizing the distinctive role of the University Clinic in effectively combining scientific research with clinical application. This synergy enables the institution to address critical healthcare challenges at both municipal and regional levels.
“Your researchers, in collaboration with leading scientific and educational institutions and medical centers, are actively engaged in developing advanced, highly effective diagnostic and therapeutic approaches across a broad spectrum of diseases. The clinic currently occupies leading positions in the field of endovascular interventions, and a well-structured patient routing system for stroke care has been successfully implemented. This is by no means the limit. Numerous areas demonstrate high efficiency and receive no complaints from the population you serve, which is substantial. This represents a tremendous effort. I would like to express my sincere gratitude for your work and encourage you to maintain your forward momentum,” stated Demyanova.
Rector of Kazan Federal University also addressed the audience with words of appreciation.
He noted that Medical Workers’ Day holds particular significance for the university, as KFU is one of the few institutions in Russia that possesses a comprehensive infrastructure for technology transfer in medicine.
“With regard to our University Clinic, it is currently one of the leading medical centers in the Republic of Tatarstan, providing the population with a full range of high-technology medical services,” he said. “Approximately 1,500 professionals are employed here. I take great pride in our shared work and collective mission. I extend my sincere gratitude and deep respect to all those who have chosen this demanding profession – serving people and saving lives. Physicians and nurses alike stand at the forefront of safeguarding public health and providing care in the most critical moments. You preserve what is most valuable, the human life.”
At the conclusion of his address, Lenar Safin announced that, in recognition of the occasion, all medical staff of the university would receive not only official commendations but also financial bonuses.
The ceremony concluded with remarks from the Chief Medical Officer of the University Clinic, Rinat Shigabutdinov, and the Director of the Institute of Fundamental Medicine and Biology, Andrey Kiyasov. The event was continued with a cultural program featuring performances by artists of Tatar popular music.
