Orange Helper, a child-parent relationship website, commended at Student Startup
Final year student Kseniya Ilyina talks about her project.
“The topic of child-parent relations is always pertinent, and I have always wanted to figure out how to help parents and children build the most harmonious relationship possible. Besides, it is a guarantee of good relations with teachers at school, which is also a problem in the modern world. The idea of creating such a project was suggested by my supervisor, Associate Professor of the Department of Elementary Education Elvira Sabirova. To me as a future teacher of elementary school and English language, of course, the purpose of the project is very important, and I decided that it is necessary to tackle it. We hope that the site will become a good tool for quality development and education of children,” she says.
On the platform, parents facing difficulties in upbringing and feelings of helplessness will be able to get answers to the most popular questions, study specialized literature, including literature written by KFU scientists, listen to music, and watch educational videos. The functionality of the site will include subscription to the newsletter on topics of interest, hints, and algorithms.
“The problem of parents and children is an eternal one. However, there are now much more methods and techniques to approach it. Today, parents are serious about the upbringing and development of children,” emphasized the young entrepreneur.
The USP of the site will be the opportunity to get free advice from practicing psychologists and teachers – after their interview with the project team. Kseniya notes that all consultations will be held online, and KFU psychologists will act as experts. It will also be possible to take pedagogical or psychological express-testing on the platform. It should be noted that at the first, free consultation, the psychologist will consider the problem and then give a verdict – whether it is necessary to continue therapy. Subsequent consultations will be monetized.
The name of the site, Orange Helper, is connected with one of the most famous children’s songs Orange Sky. According to the developer, its interface will be intuitive, colorful, convenient and comfortable, so that regardless of age or level of digital literacy it will be easy and simple to use.
Importantly, the platform will also maintain anonymity for users.
“Many people shy away from seeking help from professionals in real life for fear of being judged by others. On the website, they can remain anonymous, which promotes more open communication,” emphasizes the student.
In a year, Kseniya will receive a bachelor’s degree and hopes to continue her studies in a master’s program. She plans to design a website, develop and promote it. More than half of the funding will be used to pay for the services of psychologists. The grantee aims to obtain a patent in the near future.
