Strabismus treatment device wins commendation from Russian Society of Inventors and Rationalizers

IT Lyceum student Gleb Smorodinov’s pitch was among the top 30 of the 722 applications.

The finals featured 224 inventions from 36 Russian provinces. Smorodinov’s device was mentioned in the Impact Project nomination.

While sharing his impressions, Gleb says that he was glad to be noticed among many experienced competitors – PhDs, DScs and practicing engineers. He was assisted by KFU in his work.

“During the first quarter of the academic year I continued to improve my device and designed a 3D model for further printing. A patent was registered in September. In late November, a plastic model was printed at the University,” adds the young inventor.

His device was showcased at the 3rd Russian Congress of Young Scientists. Among those who visited the booth were Vice-Premier of Russia Dmitry Chernyshenko and Minister of Science and Higher Education of Russia Valery Falkov.

The used technology helps train a patient’s binocularity by successive flashes. It can be utilized without external assistance and under any lighting conditions.

The winners wants to help as many people as possible by passing a medical certification process and launching official production.
