Professor Damir Valeev awarded as Lawyer of the Year in Russia in Legal Enlightenment category
The ceremony was held by the Association of Lawyers of Russia in Moscow on 4 December.
The five traditional nominations of this year were Contribution to the Legal Science, Human Rights Activities, Legal Enlightenment, Development of Legislation, and Legal Education and Science. A new special prize, Contribution to the Defense of Social and Labor Rights, was introduced.
Damir Valeev, Deputy Dean for Research of KFU’s Faculty of Law, received the first prize in the Legal Enlightenment nomination.
Dr. Valeev commented, “Any award is a surprise. Often one is commended not for something specific, but for a string of accomplishments which are parts of your everyday job. In reality, the award is to the merit of the whole faculty and Kazan University, and I am a mere representative of those.”
In the thirteen years of the awards’ history, only 80 individuals have earned the honor in all the nominations combined.
