Minister of Science and Higher Education of Russia met with Tatarstani rectors

He visited a regular meeting of the Council of Rectors of Tatarstan on 7 April.

The meeting was headed by Chairman of the Council, Rector of KFU Lenar Safin. Also present were Deputy MInister of Science and Higher Education of Russia Ayrat Gatiyatov, Aide to the Rais (Governor) of Tatarstan Albert Gilmutdinov, and Minister of Education and Science of Tatarstan Ilsur Khadiullin.

Lenar Safin talked about the upcoming admission season at Kazan Federal University. He mentioned that the number of electronic amenities for enrollees grows every year, and documents can now be submitted via e-signature. Apart from that, freshmen who scored 100 in any of the Unified State Exams during admission or have been prize winners of the Russian National Competition in any the school curriculum subjects receive special one-off stimulus payments from the University.

Minister Falkov noted that 2023 is the first year when universities can apply for redistribution of public-funded enrolment vacancies on the go, which has not been possible before.

This year, the MInistry plans to launch a new financial support program for equipment renovations at universities. It will mostly cover teacher education, predominantly lab equipment for model classrooms at pedagogical universities. Funding will also be allocated to natural sciences. The program is scheduled for 2 years. In other news, the Ministry also wants to involve more institutions in its Priority 2030 program and advanced engineering schools program.
