KFU stregthening cooperation with Northeast China
On September 15, the International Conference on Cooperation and the Integration of Industry, Education, Research, and Practice, organized for the northeastern provinces of the People’s Republic of China, began in Changchun, Jilin Province.
Kazan Federal University is represented at the event by Vice-Rector for External Relations Timirkhan Alishev and Director of the Institute of Psychology and Education Aidar Kalimullin.
Among those who welcomed the conference participants were Ren Youqun, Vice Minister of Education of the People’s Republic of China; Zhang Xi, Rector of Jilin University and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences; and others.
The next stage of KFU researchers’ academic visit to China will be their participation in the Global East–West Forum on Teacher Education. At the forum, researchers from the Institute of Psychology and Education, as well as from the Institute of International Relations, History and Eastern Studies, will deliver presentations on pressing issues in teacher training.
As part of the forum, an agreement is expected to be signed establishing the Russian–Chinese Consortium of Researchers in Teacher Education. The consortium will include ten Chinese higher education institutions and ten universities from the Russian Federation. For its first two years, the consortium will be co-chaired by Northeast Normal University and Kazan Federal University.
The purpose of the Russian–Chinese Consortium of Researchers in Teacher Education will be to pool the resources of leading Russian and Chinese universities conducting research in education and to create a sustainable, long-term platform for bilateral cooperation.
The consortium’s priority area of activity has been defined as the development of joint research in teacher education and the educational sciences. It will promote improvements in the quality of continuing professional development for teaching staff, raise the level of academic mobility, and foster intercultural dialogue.
The KFU delegation’s work in China will continue on September 22–25, when the university’s scholars take part in the China–Russia Educational Forum, Transformation of Education in the Era of Digital Technologies and Artificial Intelligence, to be held at Liaoning Normal University in Dalian.
The extensive participation of KFU researchers in teacher-education conferences in China represents a significant contribution to the implementation of the cross-cultural Years of Cooperation between the two countries in the field of education, scheduled for 2026–2027.
