Rector Lenar Safin discusses cooperation with Consul General of Uzbekistan in Kazan Nodirjon Kasimov
The meeting took place on 27 November.
During the meeting Dr Safin and Consul Kasimov priority areas of joint activities with 70 Uzbekistani scientific and educational organizations, including leading universities and research centers.
Special attention was paid to KFU’s Jizzakh Branch, which currently has more than 600 students in 11 specialties.
Lenar Safin thanked the leadership of Uzbekistan and in particular the leadership of Jizzakh Region for comprehensive support and direct participation in the implementation of such an important project for both countries.
“This is the first official foreign branch of Kazan University, and it is very symbolic that it was opened in the Republic of Uzbekistan, which is the main strategic partner of KFU and the Republic of Tatarstan in Central Asia,” the Rector emphasized. “I am sure we should not stop at what we have achieved. The University will continue to expand cooperation with Uzbekistani partners in a wide range of strategic areas.”
Noridjon Kasimov, in turn, noted the great contribution of Kazan University to the development of friendship of peoples.
“Today, about 2,000 of our citizens are studying at KFU. This is a very big figure, which obliges us to a lot. In this regard, it is extremely important for us that here you have created favorable conditions for the comprehensive development of our students, various scientific clubs sports clubs, creative teams. I expect that we will continue to develop the positive interaction that has been established between Kazan Federal University and the Consulate General of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Kazan. I am confident that our joint work will contribute to strengthening partnership, cultural and historical ties between the peoples of our countries,” the Consul General concluded.
In conclusion, the parties exchanged memorable gifts and books.
