Representatives of OIC countries join a panel session on the role of the media in the life of younger generations

The Emperor Ballroom of Kazan Federal University hosted a meeting of heads of major foreign media organizations with university students on the topic “Youth as the target audience of OIC media: promising formats and topical issues”.

The dialog with students and professors of the Higher School of Journalism and Media Communications of Kazan University was attended by Abdelhamid Salhi, Director of the Information Department of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (Saudi Arabia), Hartyo Harkomoyo, Director of Information and Media at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia, Hidri Ashraf, Director of International Relations at the Union of News Agencies (Saudi Arabia), and Amged Mohamad Shawki Bishri Ahmed Osman, Senior Advisor at the MENA Agency (Egypt).

The discussion was opened with the participation of Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Ekaterina Turilova and Acting Director of the Institute of Social and Philosophical Sciences and Mass Communications Maria Eflova.

The meeting was moderated by Yulia Andreeva, Acting Dean of the Higher School of Journalism. In her welcoming speech, she noted that hundreds of students – representatives of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation countries – study at KFU.

The main purpose of the meeting was to discuss the role of youth in the processes of informatization and partnership development of the OIC countries, as well as to talk about how information contributes to intercultural dialogue, what formats and topics are interesting to the younger generation, and whether the prospects for cooperation in the media sphere are possible.

The event was held in the format of an open dialog, where each participant was able to ask a question.

The meeting was organized in cooperation with Tatmedia, the Republican Agency for Press and Mass Communications.
