Russia-China cooperation roundtable held at Sichuan University

The university hosted representatives of Sichuan Province and Russian guests from Kazan, Nizhny Novgorod, Samara, Perm, Saratov, and Saransk.
The sides discussed existing cooperation results and prospects. The meeting was supported by the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Kazan and by the Department of Foreign Affairs of the Province of Sichuan.
Vice-Rector for International Affairs Timirkhan Alishev, representing KFU, spoke about inter-city relations between Kazan and Chengdu. The two provinces, Tatarstan and Sichuan, signed a sisterhood agreement in 2016.
Among our partners in the province are Sichuan University, a longtime collaborator of KFU’s Higher School of Public Administration in internships for public officials. The cooperation started in 2015 and was halted during the pandemic; the two sides plan to revive it in November 2025. In particular, the vice-governor of Sichuan and employees of Sichuan University are going to visit 3rd ROSTKI Russia-China Forum in Kazan.
Another partner is the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China. This year, the two sides are planning to launch a preparatory course of Russian language on the university’s premises in Chengdu. UESTC also has memoranda with our Naberezhnye Chelny Institute and with the Telematics Industry Application Alliance.
Finally, our most storied partnership in this regard is with Southwest Petroleum University. Starting in 2008, KFU and SWPU have held research in hydraulic fracturing, polymer flooding, dry reforming, hydrogen-sulfide methane reforming, and other topics.
Earlier, the public officials and education officials of Sichuan visited the 8th Volga-Yangtze Forum in Kazan,
