University visited by Deputy Minister of Education of China Du Jiangfeng

The guests arrived on 30 September.

The delegation included heads of departments from the Ministry of Education of China and representatives of the Chinese Embassy and Consulate General in Kazan. The delegation was accompanied by Albert Gilmutdinov, Aide to the Head of the Republic of Tatarstan. The university’s leadership was represented by First Vice-Rector Dmitry Tayursky and Vice-Rector for International Affairs Timirkhan Alishev.

The visit began with a visit to the Yevgeny Zavoisky Laboratory Museum. The exhibition is dedicated to the outstanding physicist and discoverer of electron paramagnetic resonance. The tour was an important and informative highlight of the program, allowing guests to appreciate the contribution of local scientists to global physics. Following this, the guests visited the Memorial Classroom which saw Kazan University’s most famous students, Vladimir Lenin and Leo Tolstoy. The tour concluded with a visit to the History Museum. Dr Alishev gave a presentation on the university, its scientific schools, and international projects. During the visit, the parties exchanged commemorative gifts.

Today, KFU is one of the key centers of Russian-Chinese educational cooperation. As of the 2025/2026 academic year, the number of students from China is 1,808, including undergraduate, graduate, doctoral, and preparatory students.

The university has a wide network of agreements with leading Chinese universities. This collaboration encompasses student exchanges, joint research, academic mobility, and the establishment of international research laboratories. Of particular importance is the Confucius Institute (in operation since 2007), and the university’s active participation in the International Forum ROSTKI Russia – China.

This year, Deputy Minister won Russian Academy of Sciences’ Zavoisky Prize for his work in spin qubit-based magnetic resonance spectroscopy.
