Supervisory Board approves University’s development plan for the next ten years

A meeting of the Board was arranged on July 30.

Before moving to the proceedings, Chairman of the Supervisory Board, President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov visited several of KFU’s facilities, including VR Combustion Tube Lab and other labs of the World-Class Research Center in Liquid Hydrocarbons, as well as the Center for Agricultural Technology and Biotechnology.

At the meeting, Rector Ilshat Gafurov presented the University’s strategy, set to be in line with the targets set by the Government of Russia’s new higher education project – Priority 2030. KFU plans to submit its candidature for the Priority’s territorial leadership grant, which implies significant future contributions to be made by the University to Tatarstan’s potential.

Among the Strategy’s chapters are education, science, innovations, digitization, campus development, youth policy and human capital policy.

Strategic priorities for the next decade are genomics and post-genomics, hydrocarbon balance, digital research for new materials, artificial intelligence platforms, and human potential.

Rustam Minnikhanov opined that KFU is one of the top universities of the country, “I am sure that our joint work will further promote the university and enhance its competitiveness among the leading global research and education centers.”

Another agenda item approved by the Board was establishing a KFU branch campus in the Kyrgyz Republic. The question was previously discussed by Rector Gafurov and Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Ulukbek Maripov. Kyrgyzstani representatives were invited to today’s meeting to witness the decision.
