Team of Uzbekistani officials and academics welcomed at University

The meeting took place on Saturday, June 5.

Among the contributors were Rector Ilshat Gafurov, Vice-Rector for International Cooperation Timirkhan Alishev, Vice-Rector for Biomedicine Andrey Kiyasov; from the Uzbekistani side – First Deputy Minister of Healthcare Amrillo Inoyatov, Deputy Governor of Jizzakh Region Azim Akhmedkhadzhaev and others.

Rector Gafurov spoke about KFU’s transformation and its priority research in oil and gas, biomedicine, IT, space technology, and social sciences and pedagogy. He mentioned the University’s focus on digitization and translational research with commercialization.

The guests were of high opinion of KFU’s educational and scientific activities. Deputy Governor Akhmedkhadzhaev emphasized that all the aforementioned areas are of great interest to the Government of Uzbekistan with regards to professional training. With that in mind, opening a KFU branch in Jizzakh would be a huge boost for bilateral ties.

The sides then discussed procedural questions, and the guests toured KFU’s biomedical cluster.
