ThEOR-2021 conference held by KFU’s World-Level Research Center in Liquid Hydrocarbons

The annual conference in thermal enhancement of oil recovery took place from 2 to 4 December.

The event was co-organized by KFU, Industrial University of Santander, and Ecopetrol.

The conference focused on thermal methods in low-carbon economy. The program included contributions by experts from Russia, Colombia, USA, Canada, the Middle East, and other countries and regions.

The academic committee included representatives of the International Energy Agency, the Industrial University of Santander, Middle East Technical University, and ICP – Ecopetrol SA. The research committee was joined by A T EOR Consulting Inc., Skoltech University, Stanford University, Texas A&M University, the University of Houston, the University of Calgary, and PetroChina.

In their reports, KFU employees tackled the issues of the enhancement of oil recovery from non-traditional reservoirs, including heavy oil, and copper-based catalysts for in-situ combustion.

The materials will be published in Journal of Petroleum Science and Engineering.
