Kazan Federal University

University visited by Consul General of Kazakhstan in Kazan Yerlan Iskakov

He spoke with Rector Ilshat Gafurov on 7 December.

The Consul assured that Kazakhstani institutions are eager to further expand cooperation with KFU. He expressed gratitude for the support lent by the University to Kazakhstani students during the pandemic, which included, in particular, free food packages during the shelter-in-place periods and free vaccination.

Yerlan Iskakov also noted that collaboration in oil and gas industry needs tighter integration between businesses and educational institutions of both countries. Apart from that, other spheres of mutual interest were discussed.

At present, 570 Kazakhstanis study at Kazan University. There are 28 cooperation partners in Kazakhstan which have signed agreements with KFU. The cooperation expands over arts, humanities, engineering, computer science, and hydrocarbon science.

Qayum Nasyri Institute, an international organization tasked with promoting Tatar language and culture and supervised by KFU, is headquartered at Eurasian National University in Nur-Sultan, capital of Kazakhstan.

First President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev is one of the honorary doctors of our University, having personally received the credentials in June 2018.
