Memorandum of understanding signed with Al-Quds University

Kazan Federal University hosted an official visit by a delegation from Al-Quds University (State of Palestine), led by the university’s President, Imad Abu Kishek.

The visit was made possible with the support of the Russia’s Representative Office to the Palestinian National Authority, the Representative Office of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kazan, and the Government of the Republic of Tatarstan.

During the delegation’s meeting with KFU Rector Lenar Safin, the two sides discussed the development of cooperation in science and education. Among the areas highlighted were medical education, engineering, computer science, social sciences and the humanities, as well as research in Earth and environmental sciences.

The parties also considered possible steps toward cooperation in academic exchanges. For personnel training and staff development, it was proposed that KFU’s branch campus in Cairo be brought into the process.

Safin stressed that he greatly values Al-Quds University’s interest in building relations with Russian universities and sees considerable potential for a mutually beneficial partnership.

“We pay particular attention to cooperation with universities of the Islamic world. Al-Quds University is one of Palestine’s leading institutions, known for its high standard of education and research. You train specialists in dozens of fields across the humanities, engineering and medicine, and we therefore see broad opportunities for cooperation in a whole range of areas,” the Rector concluded.

Abu Kishek, for his part, praised the research and educational capacity of one of Russia’s leading universities, noting KFU’s impressive standing in global rankings and its leadership at home. In his view, expanding partnership with such a strong Russian university would produce a synergistic effect and help further strengthen both countries’ positions on the world scientific stage.

The meeting concluded with the signing of a memorandum of understanding formalizing the agreements reached on joint research and joint educational programs.

The heads of the two universities expressed mutual confidence that the cooperation would yield fruitful results and strengthen ties between Russia and Palestine in higher education.
