Cooperation agreement signed with Sultan Qaboos University

Vice-Rector for International Affairs Timirkhan Alishev visited the Sultanate of Oman on 18 – 19 February.

SQU and Omani oil companies have already been in active cooperation with KFU’s Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies for some time. During this latest visit, Dr Alishev discussed potential double degree programs with Assistant Vice Chancellor for International Cooperation Dr Mona bint Fahad Al-Said.

During the visit, a closing ceremony of an Arabic language internship took place; the program involved over 60 students from top Russian universities. The internship was co-organized by SQU and KFU’s Center for Arabic Culture. It took two months and comprised language lessons and cultural exchange.

“The training of a new generation of Arabists who intern in the countries of the Arab East is critical for the development of socio-political and economic ties with these states. Today, most of these countries support the Russian course of modernizing international relations and moving away from a unipolar world to multilateral equal and friendly interactions. In this context, KFU continues to realize its role as one of Russia’s leading centers of oriental studies, as well as a platform for scientific and educational communication with the countries of the Muslim world,” noted Vice-Rector Alishev.

His tour also included meetings with the Embassy of Russian Federation in Oman and A’Sharqiyah University.

Kazan University currently hosts two Omani Students. Oman’s Ambassador to Russia Hamoud bin Salem Al Tuwaih visited KFU in May 2023.
