Cooperation discussed with delegation of Xihua University

The visit occurred on 26th November.

The Chinese delegation included Wang Jun, Professor of Electrical Engineering and Director of the Development and Planning Department; Wang Tao, Professor of Electrical Engineering and Vice Dean of the School of Electrical Engineering, Electronics, and Information Technology; Li Qingtao, Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the Research Center for Modern Agricultural Machinery; He Liu, Professor of Automotive Engineering at the School of Automobile and Transportation Management; and Zhang Long, Professor of the School of International Education.

KFU was represented at the meeting by Timirkhan Alishev, Vice-Rector for International Affairs; Dmitry Chikrin, Director of the Institute of Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, and Systems Engineering (IAIRSI); Yana Evdokimova, Deputy Director of the International Office; Olga Shindor, Deputy Director for Research at IAIRSI; and Alina Sitnikova, Director of the Human Resources Center at said institute.

The event began with a tour of the History Museum. The guests also visited the Memorial Classroom, where they immersed themselves in the academic atmosphere of imperial times. The meeting itself took place in the Green Hall of the university’s Main Building. The parties discussed prospects for cooperation between KFU and Xihua University in artificial intelligence, robotics, and engineering, and discussed student and faculty exchange opportunities.

“Our colleagues from China initiated the meeting. Their interest is primarily focused on engineering education, which is very important for us, as the majority of students from China study humanities at Kazan Federal University, and one of our goals is to develop cooperation in the natural sciences and engineering. Today, they are touring Institute of Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, and Systems Engineering, which already has experience working with our Chinese partners. Last year, they completed advanced training programs, so I believe some new areas of collaboration will definitely emerge from our dialogue. Overall, we have quite a few partners in China; to date, we have signed over 75 cooperation agreements,” noted Timirkhan Alishev.

Dmitry Chikrin then took the floor. He spoke about the Institute’s activities and priorities.

“At the Department of Technological Entrepreneurship, we teach our students and staff to find viable technical solutions. We have a number of specializations in which we collaborate with companies. First and foremost, these are unmanned vehicles and industrial robotics, navigation and communication systems, and the implementation of artificial intelligence in enterprises. The total number of our projects implemented over the past fifteen years exceeds one hundred,” explained the Director.

At the end of the meeting, the parties exchanged commemorative gifts.
