Embassy of the People’s Republic of China delegation visits KFU

The team was headed by Minister Plenipotentiary of the Embassy Sun Weidong.

He was accompanied by Military Attaché Kui Yanwei, counsellors Zhang Yi, Dai Xukui and Liu Donglin, deputy military attachés Fu Jianhui and Fang Xinggui, first secretaries Wang Wei and Lang Jizhao, and Aide to the Military Attaché Wang Yunnan.

Joining them were Consul General in Kazan Xiang Bo, Second Secretary of the Consulate General Qin Songmao, and Consul Attaché Chen Borui.

Vice-Rector for International Affairs Timirkhan Alishev showed the guests around the Main Building museums and spoke about the University’s current state. As of now, there are over 52 thousand students – 12 thousand of them from overseas. The number of Chinese students has exceeded 2 thousand, with the latest number being 2,004.

Minister Sun Weidong noted, “Thank you for letting us see with our eyes what Kazan University is right now. We are glad that there are 2,000 Chinese students here.”

In the Emperor Ballroom, the Minister confessed that this was probably the most interesting ballroom he had ever seen. He proceeded to visit the Lenin Memorial Classroom and sat at the desks where Lenin and Leo Tolstoy used to study.

“It’s every Chinese communist’s dream – to see where Lenin studied and what desk he used to sit behind,” added Mr Sun.

The Vice-Rector concluded by saying that Chinese students are very disciplined and study-oriented.
